Dani-MKIV GTI

hey everyone im Dani i have a 01 Volkswagen GTI with the VR6 motor, i got this car in September, and i bought it as a gamble. i bought the car not knowing if it would run, or how it would drive, the camshaft cover was removed, when i looked at it so he could easily show me the problem, it was the timing chains, the car had 117,000 miles put on, and the timing chains should be changed at the 100,00 marker, so a couple of plastic guide rails had snapped. that process took me a while, just because of me needing more money at the time, also me having to wait for parts to arrive. ever since then i seem to have found more problems draining my wallet, such as thermostat housing, master cylinder, pressure plate loosing its tightness, therefor completely burning the clutch plate, so as of now i dont know how much longer i want to keep this car. anyway here are some pics so you can see what im having to deal with

i cant second that, when i first got my car running after doing the chains, it was literally the best feeling in the world, but then it started giving me more and more and more problems, and to this point im getting pretty tired of it

well update for everyone, i took my car to the shop, because my brake pedal wouldnt build pressure with the engine, and people on Vortex and Mive both said its your master cylinder, i said ok, i then replaced my master cylinder, took it to the shop then they tell me i have a internally leaking master cylinder that i just replaced

another update, i went to the Dub Dealership, and talked to a mechanic, that has been working there since 1974, he said he has never heard of the problem before, and said it was odd, and he had no clue, so my car is kind of fucked

well just emailed German Auto Parts, telling them that my master cylinder is faulty, they said it could be a possibility, and that i should do one more test then contact them again, and they would exchange my Master out for a new one

well i just tested the master cylinder and looked at it, and i say BS the ASE certified VW tech doesnt know what hes talking about its not the master, so the problem still exists

so, its official, i am all for selling this car, im buying the rest of the parts that need to be replaced, then im selling it, some of you already know my intentions

i called this shop up again, and they just straight bull shit, they said "well we tested the master cylinder and its not the problem, it looks like all 4 calipers need to be replaced, they have some rust on them"

hey buddy Im looking at it haha... I feel your pain. I bought my 95 325i with a few known problems for 2600 with 165,000 on the clock. I have since had to do a motor swap and so far have put about $5,000 in parts alone as I do all of the work myself. Keep on trucken.

well i have come close to selling this and getting myself an E36, but i decided just recently to keep the car, and try to diagnose all problems, i guess this is the german game

well now that would be a good idea..but im biased. Definitely a German game but its all worth it!

yea it should be worth it, once i get an exhaust on, the VR6 should come to life sound wise
